To the Editor:

Thank you for your profile of EXXON (EXXON: The Oil King MM Vol.10, No. 1 & 2, 1989). You hit it right on the head when you called EXXON's CEO Larry Rawl "blunt, arrogant and irreverent." Given the oil spill in Alaska, we can assume that the EXXON fish rots from the head down. Can it be that one of the world's largest multinationals spills 10 million gallons of black crude into a pristine Alaskan habitat, then uses the spill as an excuse to raise gasoline prices 10 to 30 cents a gallon?

Can it be that the people of the world can contemplate this destruction then listen to EXXON explain that oil spills are the price we must pay to live in an advanced industrial civilization and do nothing?

It can be and it is. And it also can be that EXXON must pay for its crime and its arrogant response. How? Demand justice. Demand that the corporate executives be sent to jail. If you have an EXXON credit card cut it up and throw it out. Finally, never purchase EXXON products again. See that red white and blue EXXON sign and just keep on driving to the next station. Speak the language that Exxon understands--boycott.

Sincerely,
